Aftercare: Product maintenance is very important. We recommend you continue to treat your product with our all natural food safe chopping board oil. Regular treatment will protect the timber and stop it drying out. This will also help to prevent staining, discolouration, cracking and warping. Our chopping board oil can be purchased on our website or over the phone.

Never put your chopping board in a Dishwasher. Do not leave on a hot or damp surface or in direct sunlight. Never leave anything moist on your board like cheese for long periods of time.

About Timber: Natural timber will always want to move. It’s going to expand and shrink as the temperature and humidity changes in your home and outside, rest assured it won’t change drastically. Small hairline splits may occur as your product ages, this is completely normal and is regarded as part of the timbers natural beauty. As the seasons change you may see some movement in your product, again this is completely normal.

Do not store your product outside, in a garden shed or a garage.

If you need any help or advise on how to maintain your product please contact us or consult your care guide.

Product Description: Olive Wood Chopping Boards

Take a look our rustic olive wood chopping boards. If you are looking for a rustic looking wooden chopping board, not made from the usual oak or walnut, here is a board that is rock hard, hygienic and stunning to behold. Ethically sourced from a sustainable olive wood farmer in Tunisia, we then shape the timber and finish it here in our Hampshire workshop by hand.

Each piece is completely unique, carved from a single piece of olive wood, with a grain pattern and colour that you will only see in a timber like olive wood. These boards look stunning. Like our Live Edge English Oak chopping Boards, these wooden olive chopping boards also feature one natural edge for the organic, rustic feel, making it a very tactile and a real multi-purpose board either for chopping or for serving.

Sizes:

We have 4 sizes available to order, perfect for all kinds of uses and displays purposes, each with your own engraving lettering. We can also carve company logos, crests and other artworks. Each board will be completely unique in shape.

Olive Wood Chopping Boards FAQs

Is olive wood safe to cut food on?
Yes. Olive wood is naturally dense and tight-grained, which makes it more resistant to knife scarring than softer woods, and it has natural antibacterial properties that make it a hygienic choice for food prep. Like any wooden board, it should be washed by hand and dried upright rather than left wet.

Why does olive wood have such a distinctive grain pattern?
Olive trees grow slowly and often in dry, rocky conditions, which produces a dense, swirling grain with rich colour variation – from pale honey tones to deep browns. Because each board is cut from a single piece of timber, no two boards are ever exactly alike

Can I put my olive wood chopping board in the dishwasher?
No. Dishwashers combine heat, water and detergent in a way that will dry out and crack solid wood. Wash your board by hand with warm water and a mild detergent, then dry it standing on its edge rather than flat.

Do I need to oil an olive wood chopping board?
Yes, regularly. Oiling keeps the wood conditioned and helps prevent it from drying out, cracking or warping. We recommend treating your board with a food-safe mineral or specialist chopping board oil every few weeks at first, then roughly once a month once it’s settled in – more often if you notice the wood looking dry or pale.

Will my board warp or crack over time?
Solid wood naturally expands and contracts slightly with changes in temperature and humidity, so some movement is normal and part of owning a genuine solid wood product. Small hairline cracks can appear as the board ages – this doesn’t affect its usability. Keeping it away from direct heat, damp surfaces and sunlight, and oiling it regularly, will keep this to a minimum.

How is olive wood different from oak or walnut chopping boards?
Olive wood is harder and denser than oak or walnut, giving it excellent durability and knife resistance. It’s also more strikingly patterned, with warmer tones and a livelier grain, which is why it’s popular for boards used for serving as well as chopping.

Can I personalise an olive wood chopping board?
Yes, every board can be engraved with a name, date, initials or short message, and we can also carve symbols, crests or logos onto the surface. Character limits vary by board size, from 20 characters on our small board up to 50 on the extra-large.
