Personalised Wooden Memorial Benches

A personalised memorial bench offers a meaningful way to celebrate the life of someone special. At MakeMeSomethingSpecial, we provide a wide range of engraving options, allowing you to create a unique tribute that reflects the memories you hold dear. On our traditional teak memorial benches, personalised lettering on the top rail of the backrest is included in the price. This is an ideal position for a name, meaningful dates, a favourite poem, quotation or personal message. If you would like to personalise your bench further, additional wording can be engraved onto the front panel beneath the seat or onto the upright panels forming the backrest. As well as engraved text, we can incorporate carved symbols such as hearts, stars and zodiac signs. Another thoughtful option is to have the coordinates of a special location engraved onto your bench, perhaps somewhere you shared happy memories or a place that held particular meaning. If you have a specific design in mind, please contact our team to discuss the available personalisation options.

Choosing the Right Memorial Bench

Choosing a memorial bench is a deeply personal decision. Whether you're remembering a family member, close friend or someone who made a lasting difference, it's important to find a bench that offers comfort, durability and a fitting tribute. Our collection includes several styles of wooden memorial benches to suit different preferences and locations.

• Traditional teak memorial benches – A timeless choice, available in two, three and four-seater designs, with personalised engraving options.
• Engraved oak garden benches – Beautiful solid oak designs offering a distinctive, natural appearance.
• Memorial benches with plaques – An elegant option for displaying a dedicated memorial inscription.
• Circular tree benches – Designed to sit around a tree, creating a peaceful place to remember someone special.
• Backless wooden benches – A simple, understated design that can suit a variety of garden settings.

When choosing your memorial bench, consider the available space, preferred seating capacity, timber and personalisation options. A two-seater bench may be ideal for a quiet garden corner, while a larger bench offers more room for family and friends to sit together.

Memorial Bench Engraving and Inscription Ideas

Choosing the right words for a memorial bench inscription can be one of the most meaningful parts of creating a personalised tribute. Some people prefer a short, simple message, while others choose a favourite quotation, a few lines of poetry or words that reflect the personality of their loved one. Popular memorial bench inscriptions include:

• In Loving Memory of [Name]
• Forever in Our Hearts
• Always Loved, Never Forgotten
• A Special Place to Remember a Special Person
• Your Memory Will Live on in Our Hearts
• Gone From Our Sight, But Never From Our Hearts
• Remembering the Wonderful Times We Shared
• In Memory of a Life So Beautifully Lived

You may also wish to include a person's full name, their birth and passing dates, or a short message from family and friends. For a truly personal touch, consider engraving a favourite saying, meaningful location coordinates or a phrase that brings back happy memories. Our engraved memorial benches can accommodate different inscription styles and positions depending on your chosen design. We can also provide proofs for approval before engraving begins, allowing you to check the wording and layout.

Memorial Garden Benches for Special Places

A memorial garden bench creates a dedicated space where family and friends can sit, reflect and feel close to someone they have lost. Whether placed in a private garden, beside a favourite tree or overlooking a meaningful view, a wooden memorial bench can become a cherished part of its surroundings for many years. Our solid teak memorial benches are particularly well suited to outdoor settings. Teak contains natural oils that help protect it against moisture and changing weather conditions, making it an excellent choice for the British climate. We also offer solid oak memorial bench designs for those who prefer the traditional character and appearance of oak. If you're planning to install a memorial bench in a public park, cemetery or other shared outdoor space, we recommend contacting the relevant landowner or local authority before placing your order. Some locations have specific requirements regarding bench designs, installation and ongoing maintenance.

How Much Does a Memorial Bench Cost?

The cost of a memorial bench depends on several factors, including the timber, size, design and level of personalisation. At MakeMeSomethingSpecial, our memorial bench collection includes a variety of options to suit different styles and budgets. Selected engraved oak sleeper benches start from £369, while our traditional engraved teak memorial benches start from £799. We also offer larger garden benches and circular tree benches for customers looking for something more distinctive. Personalised engraving is included in the price of many of our memorial bench designs, with additional engraving positions, finishes and accessories available depending on the product. Each product listing provides further information about pricing, dimensions and personalisation options to help you choose the right bench.

Wood Finish, Maintenance and Extra Comfort Options

Our traditional teak memorial garden benches are supplied unfinished as standard. Teak is a naturally oily hardwood, making it particularly suitable for outdoor furniture without requiring an additional protective finish. Over time, untreated teak gradually develops an attractive, pale silver-grey appearance as it weathers naturally. If you prefer to maintain a richer timber appearance, we offer an optional Superior Grade Danish Oil finish. Our Diamond-Coating finish is also available for customers looking for additional protection. We also offer fitted cushions with coloured covers to make your personalised wooden memorial bench even more comfortable. The appropriate finish and maintenance requirements will depend on your chosen timber and bench design. Please refer to the individual product details or contact us if you need guidance.

Memorial Bench FAQs

What is the best wood for a memorial bench?

Teak is one of the most popular choices for outdoor memorial benches because of its natural durability and resistance to changing weather conditions. Solid oak is another excellent option, offering a traditional appearance and distinctive natural grain.

Can I personalise a memorial bench?

Yes. Our memorial benches can be personalised with names, important dates, favourite quotations, poems and meaningful messages. Depending on the bench design, we can also incorporate engraved symbols and other bespoke details.

What should I write on a memorial bench?

Many people choose a short inscription such as "In Loving Memory", followed by their loved one's name and dates. Others prefer a meaningful quotation, personal message or favourite saying. The most important thing is choosing words that feel right for the person you're remembering.

Can I put a memorial bench in a public park?

You will normally need permission from the relevant council or landowner before installing a memorial bench in a public park, cemetery or other shared space. It's worth checking local requirements before ordering, as approved designs and installation arrangements may vary.

Do memorial benches need maintenance?

The maintenance requirements depend on the timber. Our teak memorial benches can be left untreated and will naturally weather to a silver-grey colour. Optional wood finishes are also available if you prefer a different appearance.

Can I order a memorial bench with a plaque?

Yes. We offer personalised memorial benches with plaques, providing an alternative to direct engraving. Plaques can be a particularly attractive option for a dedicated commemorative message.

Are memorial benches delivered assembled?

Assembly and delivery arrangements depend on the bench design. Please check the individual product listing or contact our team for further details before ordering.
