Every tree swing we make starts life as a single piece of air-dried Prime A English oak, so the seat is properly seasoned and built to withstand the British weather. Each one is fitted with 5 metres of marine-grade synthetic hemp rope, chosen because, unlike natural rope, it won't swell, shrink or rot outdoors. That means once your tree swing is hung, it can stay up all year round without needing to come down for repairs.

Handmade Tree Swings, Built to Order

We don't mass-produce our tree swings. Each seat is shaped, sanded and finished in our Surrey Hills workshop, using timber sourced from just 20 miles away in West Sussex. Once the wood is silky smooth, we hand-splice or knot the rope onto the seat depending on the style of swing you choose, so every tree swing that leaves our workshop has had genuine craftsmanship, not a production line, behind it.

Tree Swings for Children

Our smaller tree swings are designed for children aged 3 and up, with two lengths of rope for extra stability while they learn to swing themselves. A tree swing isn't just for children. Our twin-rope garden swings, large oak swings and two-seater double swings are built with grown-up comfort in mind, sturdy enough for quiet moments alone or for two people swinging together. They're a popular choice for wedding gifts, 5th wedding anniversary gifts and Christmas presents, and every swing can be engraved with names, dates, coordinates, poems or quotes of your choice - even on the underside of the seat for an extra personal touch.

Finishing Options

Every tree swing can be left untreated so the oak weathers naturally to a soft silver-grey, or finished with Superior Danish Oil to bring out the timber's natural colour and add UV protection (topped up 2-4 times a year). For a harder-wearing, low-maintenance option, our Diamond Coating finish only needs a top-up once a year. Whichever you choose, aftercare kits are available on our website or by phone.

What age are your tree swings suitable for?

Our children's tree swings are suitable from age 3 and up. Our larger adult and twin-rope tree swings are designed for teenagers and adults aged 14+.

Can I personalise my tree swing?

Yes - every tree swing can be engraved with names, dates, coordinates, a favourite quote or poem. Standard engravings and phrases are also available if you'd prefer not to write your own message.

Will the rope rot or perish outdoors?

No. We use marine-grade synthetic hemp rope rather than natural rope, so it won't swell, shrink or rot when left outside all year round.

How long does the rope drop measure?

Each tree swing comes with a 5 metre drop of rope as standard (per side). Longer lengths are available on request.

How long does delivery take?

All our tree swings are handmade to order in our Surrey Hills workshop. Please get in touch for current lead times.
