Our fantastic solid oak bollards. Handmade from a 10cm diameter beautiful English Oak.

Hand-turned by our skilled woodturners, these solid oak bollard posts are striking in very way. Our solid round oak bollards come in two standard sizes and include three perfectly carved rings which can be paint fulled with a colour of your choice.

Ring Colours – Red, White or Black

We would like to stress, these are made from Air Dried Oak and not Green Oak. The reason why this is so important is that green oak is cut straight from the tree soon after it is felled and has not been dried in any way. This will over time dry out even in outdoor conditions and will move, split and crack as it dries and becomes accustomed to its surroundings. ‘Air Dried’ oak is as it states. It has been left to dry out for several years and has acclimatised and settled into its surroundings, meaning any movement or splitting has already occurred and can be removed leaving a flawless finish. This means your beautiful wooden house signpost is already perfectly accustomed to outdoor conditions.

Finish:

As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each engraved oak signpost is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. You can choose to leave your signpost untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low-maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timber’s natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top-up once a year, however this depends on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top-up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here. 

Setting your Round Oak Post into the Ground:

We recommend you set your round oak post in concrete to make sure it is properly secure. You can purchase small bags of ready-mixed concrete to fix the post in the ground yourself or contact a local specialist. We recommend you set a minimum of 30cm into the ground.

Personalise your Oak Signpost:

Engraving can be added for an additional charge. Extra carvings like arrows or motifs, please contact us for a quotation.
