Making our Oak Bird Feeders:

Our Bird feeders are handmade from solid English Oak in our Surrey Hills workshop to order. Each bird feeder bowl starts as a very large solid oak block which is then turned and carve out the bowl shape. Being made from a single piece of timber they are very strong and sturdy, perfect for being outsides in all weathers, plus it means the carved lettering can be made very large and clear.

Free Standing or Hanging:

Our engraved oak garden bird feeders come in two different options, standing and hanging. The standing bird feeder comes with a 1 metre long round oak post for placing in the ground. The hanging bird feeder version comes with a stainless steel chain attachment for hanging from a tree or outside a window so you can enjoy watching the birds feed from inside. We include a small hoop for screwing into a wooden structure like a pergola or window frame.

Just like our much larger bird feeders, these mini handmade wooden bird feeders are a pretty and eye catching feature in your garden. Ideal as a gift for the garden lover and bird watcher. Our Oak bird feeders are simply stunning.

Personalise your bird feeder:

Our beautiful wooden bird feeders can be personalised with words or lettering of your choice around the edge. Perfect for names, dates, a favourite poem, quote or saying. They will make wonderful wedding gifts, 5th wedding anniversary gifts, leavers gifts or for any other very special occasions.

Finish:

As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each engraved oak mini bird feeder is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your bird feeder untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated, your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timbers natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depends on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here.
