If you are wanting something a little different to show off the name of your house – how about one of these beautifully engraved oak signposts?

These beautiful solid oak personalised signposts are just stunning. We make these in two standard sizes from one piece of ‘Air Dried’ hand-selected English Oak. This is a truly unique way to display your house name. Handcrafted from 10cm thick Superior Grade English Oak.

We would like to stress, these are made from Air Dried Oak and not Green Oak. The reason why this is so important is that green oak is cut straight from the tree soon after it is felled and has not been dried in any way. This will over time dry out even in outdoor conditions and will move, split and crack as it dries and becomes accustomed to its surroundings. ‘Air Dried’ oak is as it states. It has been left to dry out for several years and has acclimatised and settled into its surroundings, meaning any movement or splitting has already occurred and can be removed leaving a flawless finish. This means your beautiful wooden house signpost is already perfectly accustomed to outdoor conditions.

Finish:

As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each engraved oak sign post is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. You can choose to leave your sign post untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timbers natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depend on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here. 

Setting your Personalised Sign Post:

We recommend you set your oak signpost in concrete for making sure it is properly secure. You can purchase small bags of ready-mixed concrete to fix the post in the ground yourself or contact a local specialist. We recommend you set a minimum of 30cm into the ground for our half size Oak signpost and 50cm for our full-size signpost.

Personalise your Oak Signpost:

The price includes engraving on the front face – up to 40 characters. This can be laid out over one or two lines – it is completely up to you. We also offer further engraving on the other three faces if required. The sides are numbered 1 to 4 and they rotate, from the front face, clockwise in order. i.e. Side 2 – is on the left-hand side / Side 3 – is on the back / Side 4 – is on the righthand side. Black and white paint-filled engraving is also available.
