This is our luxurious handmade heavy-duty wooden house sign with a double live edge, which means the sign plaque will feature the natural waney edge of the tree. The natural edge is a beautiful feature of these solid oak house signs, that runs the full length of the sign plaque, giving the signs a stunning organic and rustic feel. The shape of the live edge will vary in height across the length of the sign. It will not be uniform and generally has a 45 degree slope.

These live edge oak house signs are created from hand-selected Superior Grade English Oak and made to considerable thickness. We spare no expense when it comes to these beautiful wooden signs. If you want something that is of superior quality, made with exceptional attention to detail, to a truly stunning flawless finish, you will not be disappointed. The length of the house signs will vary due to the amount of lettering that is required. We will always allow plenty of room on either side of your lettering to give your house sign a well-proportioned look.

Concerning Bark:

Our Live Edge oak signs will feature no bark along the live edge, just simply the natural edge with the bark removed. For two reasons, firstly because the bark is where insects and worms live, and the other reason is that the bark does tend to fall off in the end.

SIGN SIZES:

You can have your house name engraved on one or two lines depending on how you want your house sign to look. The length of the sign plaque will vary due to the amount of lettering that is required. We will always allow plenty of room on either side of your lettering to give your house sign a well-proportioned look. All of our sign plaques are 3.5cm thick and feature deeply carved lettering – Please see the dimensions below:

1 OR 2 POSTS:

You can choose either a single post or two oak posts to have your live edge wood signs mounted. The sizes of the posts are 8cm square by the length you choose, giving you the option of having your sign close to the ground or plenty of clearance should you need it – to be above a wall or hedge for example.

Choose a post length of – 60cm tall – up to – 1.2 metres tall. These post sizes are the total height, including what you will need to put into the ground and also the area where the sign is mounted.

ENGRAVING AND COLOUR OPTIONS:

All prices given will include engraving. You can then choose to leave the lettering plain or have it paint filled. We offer White, Black and Grey. The paint application we supply is three coats of water-resistant acrylic paint, giving plenty of protection for the years to come.

Additional carvings such as carved arrows can be added by request. Please contact us for these.

Finish:

As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak sign is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your sign untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low-maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timber’s natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot harder wearing and only requires a top-up once a year, however, this depends on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top-up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here. 

Fittings:

All our personalised oak mini signs no don’t come with any fittings. If you would like us to include screw holes just add these from the options list.

As all our signs are made to order it is very easy for us to make signs to the required dimensions. We offer a completely bespoke service on all our personalised wooden gifts. So if you need something made to a specific size or style, we can make this for you. That also includes different fonts, carved crests or logos, motifs and symbols.
