Our free standing engraved oak signs with carved arrow
If you are looking for a good quality engraved wooden house sign with an arrow on the posts, MakeMeSomethingSpecial are all about quality craftsmanship. These beautiful handmade house signs with pointing arrows are constructed from Superior grade English oak. Each sign is handmade in our Surrey Hills workshop to order completely from scratch. We use 2.5cm (1”) thick solid oak to make the sign plaques and 5cm square posts. Our signs come fully assembled using traditional joinery techniques and all screw head holes are covered up with oak plugs. Our arrow signs are simply stunning!
The timber is all air-dried so it is perfectly seasoned for outdoor conditions. All you have to do is tell us what lettering you would like and which way you want the arrow facing. We do the rest.
We have two styles of free-standing house signs. Solid oak signs on a signal post or on two posts, perfect if you don’t have a wall to hang it from. The solid oak posts are 1 meter in length, so there is plenty of timber to bury into the ground to secure your wooden free-standing house sign.
The length of the house signs will vary due to the amount of lettering required. We will always allow plenty of room either side of your lettering to give your house sign a well-proportioned look.
Carved lettering is all included in the price. Your engraved lettering can be left plain or paint filled with either Black, Grey or White acrylic paint. Perfect if you want to make your sign stand out more, especially at night.
As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak sign is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your sign untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timbers natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depend on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here.
You can choose to have your free standing house sign fully assembled ready to place or flat packed. Fitting the sign to the post is a very simple process requiring only a couple of bolts. With fully assembled signs, screw fitting holes will be covered over with solid oak plugs.
When it come to place your sign, we recommend you place 30 – 50cm into the ground and fill with concrete for stability and security reasons.
