Finish: Untreated, Superior Danish Oil or Diamond Coating
Aftercare: Product maintenance is very important. If you have chosen your product to be left untreated, your product will fade to a pale silver in time. We recommend a pressure wash or a sand once a year to remove any moss or unwanted mess on the timber and then treat with an exterior oil to slow down decay.
Danish Oil – If you have chosen Danish oil we recommend you continue to treat your product with Danish oil or similar timber treatment oil to protect the timber and stop it drying out. This will also help to prevent staining, discolouration, cracking and warping.
Dimond Coating – If you have chosen Dimond Coating, top up kits can be purchased on our website or over the phone. We would recommend you treat your product once a year minimum. Twice a year if you want to maintain full protection.
About Timber: Natural timber will always want to move. It’s going to expand and shrink as the temperature and humidity changes in your home and outside, rest assured it won’t change drastically. Small hairline splits may occur as your product ages, this is completely normal and is regarded as part of the timbers natural beauty. As the seasons change you may see some movement in your product, again this is completely normal.
Air-dried oak: Your product has been made using Air-dried timber. This is has been seasoned for outdoor conditions. Do not keep exterior products indoors.
If you need any help or advise on how to maintain your product please contact us or consult your care guide.

If you’re looking for a beautifully made engraved wooden memorial cross, our stunning handcrafted personalised oak crosses are made to order right here in our Hampshire workshop with considerable care and attention to detail. You will not be disappointed with the quality. They feature beautifully carved lettering and even bespoke carved motifs.
These eco-friendly oak burial marker crosses are constructed from solid Superior Grade English Oak and put together, by hand, to order, using traditional joinery techniques. The oak plaque itself is already joined to the post using a beautiful carved fitted joint and plugged screw holes. The cross bar measures 30cm in width or 50cm wide for the premium, giving you lots of room for your personalised engraved message.
These stunning oak burial crosses are ideal as green burial markers, as an alternative to the usual headstone or if you want something more natural. They also work really well to mark the resting place of beloved pets.
Our oak memorial crosses come in two thicknesses. A standard thickness of 4.5cm thick or a very heavy duty 7.5cm thick. The oak post section of the oak cross is supplied 100cm long in total, giving you at least 30cm to be secured into the ground, making it very secure once in place. And being made from solid Oak, it will last many many years.
Your chosen memorial cross comes with your own personalised engraving – up to 50 characters across the T-Bar. If you require further lettering, you can add the 100 characters option, further engraving can be added if you want to have a longer message.
Here at our Surrey Hills workshop we have over 3000 carvings on file, so when it comes to a carved motif to go alongside your engraved lettering on your memorial plaque, we pretty much have everything you could think of. If not we have bespoke service to create and design a carving of your choice. We can even copy designs and digital artworks and logos.
As with everything we do here at Make Me Something Special, we have spent the time researching and sourcing the perfect materials available. Each oak memorial cross is handmade from one piece of Air Dried Superior Grade English Oak. This Timber is perfectly seasoned and adjusted for outdoor conditions. You can choose to leave your cross untreated, finished in Superior Danish Oil or our low maintenance Diamond Coating finish. If you choose untreated your product will weather to a pale silver more quickly. Danish Oil will not only treat the timber but also bring out the timbers natural colour. This has a UV filter to protect the timber but it does require regular upkeep. 2 – 4 times a year to keep it looking its best. Diamond Coating is more glossy but a lot more harder wearing and only requires a top up once a year, however this depend on the weather and where the product is placed. We would recommend twice a year if you want full protection. Top up kits can be ordered over the phone or on our website – see here.

Steven –
Hi Ben
I received my package containing the cross yesterday, 21 December 2019. I must admit I was totally blown away by how amazing the cross looks, which exceeded my expectations and looked better than the original.
Thank you for doing such an amazing job at this very difficult time for me as we approach the Christmas season.
Kind regards to you, Michelle and the rest of your team.
Merry Christmas
Steven
